Message-ID: <469B9208.F08C.002F.0@lib.iastate.edu> Hi, I just joined the list because I'm debating getting an iphone. Does anyone have one, and have you measured the data rate here in Ames? Everywhere in Iowa that I've tried it (Cedar Falls, Quad Cities, Pella) its been satisfactory. I don't have any hard data, but I'm happy with the speeds I've gotten. I think they are on par with the rest of the nation. I think a couple of our other officers have iPhones and are in Ames...maybe they can test things our for you. Sent this with my iPhone, btw. -- Brandon Newendorp On Jul 16, 2007, at 3:43 PM, "Jeff Hall" wrote: > Hi, I just joined the list because I'm debating getting an iphone. > Does anyone have one, and > have you measured the data rate here in Ames? Message-ID: <06C0EB28-048B-4CDB-871B-28976A2FB7C4@fbx.com> Hey, it's Deb here with the old Performa 6360 I want to take to Goodwill. Shouldn't I clean the Hard drive first? I have the original CD's with the software. It mentions in the book several things I might do, one of which is to initialize the Hard drive. Should I initialize it at all, and if so, do I do this before re- installing the "software"? All of this scares me a bit, but why should I care if I'm giving it away? I wish I knew someone who would want this bundle of stuff, including a monitor, 11X14 scanner, zip drive, etc. It all works together as a unit and seems kinda too bad to just dump it, even though it's SCSI, old and slow..... But seriously, what about re-installing, "cleaning", initializing??? Any advice? THANKS! Insert the disk and hold the C key until it starts booting from the CD. Find the program Disk Setup and reformat the disk with the option of Zero all data or write zeros. This will take a while to complete. Once it's reformatted, you can install the operating system and it should be ready to go. These steps are a very brief overview, since I don't have an older machine to recall the exact steps.
